Media Training
In today’s landscape, where journalists in every vertical take on multi-hyphenated roles for publishers, it is no longer enough to regurgitate tired messaging or recite jargon-filled corporate platitudes. The PRecious approach to media training is designed to reveal each client’s story as told by a senior executive and use it as the foundation for communicating a unique point of view about your company and industry. Through thorough preparation, understanding your audiences, and consistent practice, we equip each spokesperson with the skills to take control in any interview scenario and deliver your story in a way that drives authentic resonance, making you stand out against the competition.
Each of our training sessions begins with an interactive presentation led by our most experienced bench of senior trainers on how the latest trends in the shifting media landscape impact the way spokespeople need to prepare and perform to drive coverage across news and commentary mediums. We provide direction on interview tips, including body language, key message preparation, and navigating tough interview questions. All this is underpinned by illustrations of real-world examples of best and worst practices. This comprehensive overview ensures that participants understand the nuances of effective communication in today’s fast-paced media environment.
We then apply this learning in a series of mock interview exercises, whether for broadcast or print, tailored to the specific reporters and outlets the participant is likely to encounter. Over time, we’ve expanded the curriculum to also include scenarions senior leaders often find themselves in from corporate townhalls to video podcasts and even panel discussions at conferences where, in a more public setting, they’ll have to justify and defend their point of view, beyond simply dropping talking points. These sessions are recorded, and following each mock interview, the video footage is played back. This allows us to offer immediate constructive feedback and enables the participant to see and respond to their own performance, fostering a deeper understanding of their strengths and areas for improvement.
Prior to the training, we collaborate with your team to prepare personalized questions for each participant’s mock interview session as well as seek the inputs of their closest senior staff to better understand their psychographic profile. This personalized approach ensures that the training is relevant and directly applicable to real-world scenarios the participants may face. By the end of our media training, each spokesperson will have the confidence and skills to effectively communicate your company’s narrative, handle challenging questions with poise, and engage audiences across various media platforms. Our goal is to empower your team to not only participate in media interactions but to excel in them, setting your company apart in a competitive landscape.
